About

In highschool, I had a project for my Japanese class where I was assigned to create something related to Japanese culture and then present about it, talking about its origins and what I found interesting about it. I decided to create a painting based on a scene from the Japanese film “The Secret World of Arrietty” from Studio Ghibli.

I simply sketched out a small guideline on the canvas to mark where I would paint certain objects like the trees or the main figures of the painting. I then slowly developed and added more and more details to this painting until I was finished.

I used Pinterest to find the frame from the scene of the film. The medium I used was acrylic paint on canvas.

The limitations I faced was that there were so many little details to add into the painting, but my smallest acrylic paint brush was not as fine as I wanted it to be, so I ultimately tried my best using pen for the facial features on the boy Sho. You can’t even see it from this image haha.
